If you have not yet reviewed the information, or would like more information on the election process, check out all the details in how you can get involved at http://www.canacu.org and click the link “2002 Elections.” We are continuing to establish the Canadian Compaq User Group from the DECUS and ITUG heritage organizations. There is still much to do and, beginning at the ground level, we will need all the help we can get taking things each step at a time. Volunteers are needed and a good place to begin is to get involved in this nomination process! There are definite benefits in getting involved, some of which is the experiences gained and in the people you meet and will work with. If this is something you have been considering, feel free to speak to any member of our Nominating Committee, in confidence and one-on-one if you like. Deadline: ** Please let us know on or before Friday November 23, 2001. ** =============================================================== OpenVMS Hobbyist Licence We are pleased to announce that we have re-established a relationship with the OpenVMS special interest group (SIG) in the U.S. Chapter so that we can offer our Canadian members the OpenVMS licence once again. Anyone interested in the licence, please contact the sender or send a message to inquire@canacu.org. You must be a member of CANACU to participate so please let us know and we’ll get you started! ======================================================================== StorageDays – Enterprise Storage Event in Toronto – November 20, 2001 Compaq and Brocade Communications is hosting a half-day Storage event that will take you through the technical side of the Storage technology today and the changes you can expect from this technology in the future. The event will take place November 20th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Hilton Toronto located on Richmond Street. Mr. Mark Lewis, Vice President & General Manager of the Compaq Enterprise Storage Group, will launch the event by giving the opening remarks. The speakers will include Chet Jacobs of Compaq Corporation and AJ Casamento of Brocade Communications. If you are involved in providing Storage solutions at your place of business, you will not want to miss this StorageDays event in Toronto. All attendees will be eligible to win a Compaq TFT 5015 Flat Panel Display. We will keep you informed of other events that are planned for other parts of the country. ========================================================================= AlphaServer Customer Assurance Program If you are an AlphaServer user or manage this technology for your business, Compaq has announced a strategy and commitment for this technology. This program involves how you can protect your investment specifically with the pending merger between Compaq and Hewlett-Packard. Rich Marcello, Compaq’s Vice President and General Manager of the High Performance and Systems Division, announced the program in mid-October. Mr. Marcello will host a conference call session with User Group Chapter members in Canada, Venezuela and Brazil in December of this year. You are invited to participate in this conference!
