FALL EVENT IN VANCOUVER AREA SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 24TH The Association, in collaboration with the HP company, is planning a Fall technical event in the Vancouver area on November 24th, 2003. As details become available, they will be posted on the events site at: www.communitywerke.com/semfal03-home.htm 2. BOARD NOMINATIONS RESULT IN OLD AND NEW MEMBERS Nominations for the Association Board is now closed. Although there was not enough interest to fill all the positions of the Board, we are very pleased to report that the new Board for 2004 will consist of a mix of old and new members, therefore, perpetuating the transition of the Association's leadership. Once all the details have been confirmed and finalized, information about your new Board members will be posted at www.canacu.org/aboutus-home.htm 3. TECHNICAL EVENTS TO BE SCHEDULED FOR 2004 Following the success of our recent technical seminars (in Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa) over the past year, the Association is looking into planning a series of technical events across the country for 2004. These events will range from casual get togethers with guest speakers to full day seminars with HP technical staff. The main purpose of these events is to enable members, customers, and users to get together at regional locations in different parts of the country for focused information exchange and the cultivation of special interest groups (SIGs) and local user groups (LUGs). To find out more about LUGs and SIGs please visit our Web site at: www.canacu.org/aboutus-lugs.htm and www.canacu.org/aboutus-sigs.htm or contact us for more info at inquire@canacu.org 4. NAME CHANGE FOR THE ASSOCIATION The Association is in the process of undergoing a name change in order to better reflect its current status and its position as an official Hewlett-Packard user group. Suggestions are encouraged from the memebrship. Please send us your thoughts and ideas or post them on the message board at: http://www.canacu.org/members-messageboard.htm 5. EXTRA COPIES OF OpenVMS HOBBYIST KITS NO LONGER AVAILABLE Due to the overwhelming number of requests received, we do not have enough copies of the "OpenVMS HOBBYIST KIT" CD for everyone who wanted one. Since these CDs are extra copies left over from the Ottawa seminar, we will not be able to source any additional copies. However, those who have submitted a request have been added to a list so that a copy will be sent out to them should more CDs become available. You may also want to check with Montagar Software at www.montagar.com/hobbyist. You can order the same software by registering for the OpenVMS Hobbyist license. 6. SIGNIFICANT CHANGES TO ASSOCIATION WEB SITE As the Association undergoes phase 3 of its development road map to concentrate on: 1) MARKETING to make the Association more publicly known, 2) COMMUNICATION to improve contact between the membership and HP, and 3) INTERACTION to increase activity and relationship amongst members, users and customers, the Association Web site will be positioned as the focal point for developing the Association as an online community to achieve its phase 3 objectives. These development initiatives will result in a newer look with reorganized and more interactive content in the Web site. Please visit www.canacu.org regularly to follow our progress in taking the Association to a new level of communication and interaction. ======================================================================= WE LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
