ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - November 7, 2002 Edition 2003 BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS: 1. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS 2. HOW TO GET INVOLVED 3. ELECTION PROCESS 4. NOMINATION DEADLINE 1. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS The Canadian Association of Compaq Users (the Association) is currently accepting nominations for its Board of Directors for the year 2003. The Association embarked on a redevelopment plan that began in the Fall of 2001 and have made great strides over the past 12 months. We now have an active organization with renewed activities, a membership development program that is attracting new members, and a revitalized Web site at http://www.CANACU.ORG All this progress would not have been possible without our dedicated volunteers, and especially those who participate on the Association’s Board of Directors. Volunteers are needed and you too can make a difference! Your participation on the board will help foster the broad interests of our members to ensure they are well represented during the ongoing development of the Association. This information is also located on the Association Web site at: http://www.CANACU.ORG/programs-leadership-elections.htm 2. HOW TO GET INVOLVED If you, or someone you know, would like to help shape the future of the Association and have the time and commitment to participate, consider getting involved by submitting a nomination for a position on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Compaq Users. In accordance with the Association’s Bylaws, positions on the Board of Directors (excluding the HP Delegate and representative of the association management company) are vacant and available for the next term. If you would like to be considered as a Nominee, please complete the nomination form located at the Association Web site. When completing the form, please make sure to indicate the name and e-mail address of the members who are nominating you. We would also like you to provide some background about yourself in a short biography (200 words or so) and include a platform statement (a "why you should vote for me!") along with your nomination form. Your completed nomination form will be directed to the Association's Nominating Committee. The link to the nomination form is located at: http://www.CANACU.ORG/programs-leadership-nominationform.htm 3. ELECTION PROCESS The Association Bylaws requires that nominations are accompanied with the signatures of not less than 10 members along with the signature of the nominee. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO LOCATE 10 MEMBERS FROM WHOM TO OBTAIN SIGNATURES, PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU FROM SEEKING A POSITION ON THE BOARD. The Nominating Committee will arrange for members to contact you, discuss your commitment and desire to run for the Board and offer their support for your nomination. 4. NOMINATION DEADLINE The deadline for nominations and other documentation is the close of business, November 21, 2002 (midnight, local time). Once the nominated candidates are confirmed, the names and information of the candidates for the Board of Directors will then be posted on the Association's Web site http://www.canacu.org and the election process will begin. You CAN make a difference! We hope you will consider getting involved! On behalf of the Association, we wish to thank you for your support.
